Cancel-by date calculator
Most software subscriptions renew on their own unless you give notice a set number of days before the renewal date. Enter the renewal date and the notice period from the contract, and get the last day you can cancel, plus a reminder for your calendar.

Start free →Monitor, the paid plan at $399 a month, adds owners, approvals and AI-scored audits when you need them.
How the date is worked out
The last day to cancel is the renewal date minus the notice period. Days are calendar days. Months are calendar months, and when the same day does not exist in the earlier month, the last day of that month is used.
| Renews | Notice | Last day to cancel |
|---|---|---|
| February 1, 2027 | 30 days | January 2, 2027 |
| February 1, 2027 | 60 days | December 3, 2026 |
| February 1, 2027 | 90 days | November 3, 2026 |
| February 1, 2027 | 3 months | November 1, 2026 |
Before you send the notice
- Read the exact wording. “At least 30 days before renewal” and “received no later than 30 days before” are not the same deadline when the notice is in the post.
- Check calendar days against business days. This page counts calendar days. A contract that says business days moves the deadline earlier.
- Send it the way the contract asks. Some contracts name an address, a portal or a specific contact. A note to your account manager may not count.
- Get it confirmed in writing. Keep the vendor’s reply with the contract.
- Know the next term. An auto-renewal often runs as long as the term before it, so a missed date can mean a full extra year.

Common questions
- What is a cancel-by date?
- It is the last day you can give notice that you do not want a contract to renew. Most software subscriptions renew on their own, and many contracts require notice a set number of days before the renewal date. Miss that day and you are usually committed to another term.
- How is the date worked out?
- The renewal date minus the notice period. Days are calendar days. Months are calendar months, and when the same day does not exist in the earlier month, the last day of that month is used.
- Does notice count calendar days or business days?
- Your contract decides. This calculator counts calendar days. If your contract says business days, or says notice must be received by a date, give yourself a few extra days.
- Does AlignCube keep what I type here?
- No. Nothing you enter is stored in an account or a list, and no AI is involved. The values are sent in the page address like any web form, so they can appear in ordinary server request logs.
- How do I keep track of every renewal, not just one?
- The free AlignCube plan keeps each tool's cost, renewal date, notice period and cancel-by date in one list. You can type tools in or import a spreadsheet, and export every deadline to your calendar at once. It uses built-in rules and makes no AI calls.
This calculator does arithmetic on the dates you enter. It is not legal advice and does not read your contract; the contract’s own notice terms decide the deadline.
