How to cancel Notion before it auto-renews
Checked against Notion’s published terms on October 29, 2026. See the sources.
Notion subscriptions renew on their own. Notion’s Master Subscription Agreement says that stopping the renewal takes notice in writing at least 30 days before the current term ends, and its definition of an order form includes online sign-up pages. Your order form can set different terms, so check it first.
- How
- Tell Notion in writing that you will not renew, and keep a copy. The agreement asks for written notice and does not say whether changing your plan in the app counts as that notice. (source)
- By when
- At least 30 days before the end of the current subscription term, unless your order form says otherwise. (source)
- Self-serve plans
- Very likely. The agreement's definition of an order form includes online sign-up and subscription pages. (source)
- If you miss it
- For the same length as the term that just ended, at Notion’s standard fees for your plan at that time, unless your order form says otherwise. (source) (source)
Work out your last day to cancel
Enter your renewal date from the order form. Notion's Master Subscription Agreement says 30 days. Change it if your order form says something else.
Check your order form
The public terms are the default. Your order form, or a contract you signed, can override them, and it decides your deadline. Look for:
- The subscription term and whether it renews.
- A notice period that replaces the 30 days.
- Who notice goes to and how.
- The price that applies at renewal.

What Notion’s published terms say
Each quote below is copied from Notion’s own site. Each one carries the date we checked it, and a quote older than 90 days puts a warning at the top of this page until it is checked again.
“Unless otherwise provided for in an Order Form, each subscription, including any Add-on subscriptions, shall automatically renew for a period equal in duration to the then expiring Subscription Term unless either party notifies the other in writing that it will not renew any subscription at least thirty (30) days prior to the end of the then-current Subscription Term.”
““Order Form” means any Notion ordering documentation or online sign-up or subscription pages, regardless of form, agreed to between the parties which sets forth the Services accessed by the Customer under this Agreement and any relevant pricing.”
“Unless otherwise specified in an Order Form, the Subscription Fees applicable to any renewal Subscription Term shall be Notion’s standard Subscription Fees for the applicable Subscription Plan in effect at the time such subsequent Subscription Term commences.”
